There are several applications where Reverse Osmosis (R.O) systems are employed, as there are other problems apart from hardness. RO systems remove the minerals from the raw water, but when hardness is present, there can be complications. Invariably, the RO membrane itself gets choked with scale and this makes it perform inefficiently. The life of the membrane is greatly reduced and requires constant replacement. This leads to increased maintenance costs and decreased efficiency.

When GMX is fitted on the feeder line to the RO system, before the membrane, it has been observed that GMX greatly improves the life of the membrane.
